Second graders have started their new PLTW unit: Grids and Games! In this unit, students will explore computer programming to make a game using the ScratchJr iPad application.
We started off by playing a game to move a robotic dog to her doghouse by giving her a program, or a set of instructions. This got students thinking critically about how to write a program. So far, students have completed math challenges where they programmed characters to move on a grid. We also explored repeat loops made connections to repeated addition. All of these skills will eventually help us write our very own game using ScratchJr!
